first Light Askar V Seagull nebula IC 2177

I was happy to get 1 night clear and took this 4.5 hour image of the Seagull Nebula with my new ASKAR V. F4.5 270mm FL 60mm Objective used on this target. Very happy with the result. The optics are excellent as are the various FL you can interchange with this scope. Processed in Pixinsight. Used an L Ulitmate filter on ASI 533 MC pro.

Thanks Nik . As you know the askar series of scopes perofrm pretty good for the price and I think they have excelled in this series in terms of maintaining image quality with the flexibility of interchangeable FL.

Paul,
You have to be wrapped with you choice on the Askar scope- a winner judging by this capture- with interchangeable FL options this would be really handy I’d imagine and the light weight must make guiding so easy.
Look forward to seeing more from this setup.

thanks Ant - yes I did a lot of research prior and figured that the Spot diagrams on performance were pretty close (not as good) to the non interchangeable cousin scopes ! But i am relieved that it performed well in this image.

Yes the weight is low especially given i can almost get as close as my previous 102 ED which was heavier.

Hi Dave and thanks! It was a very hard decision which Askar to choose they have Fra 300 400 500 600 etc etc .lol All very good reviews and images. This one is a combination!

Added 6.5 hours. Its 11 hours total but still needs more!

This is a funny target... All the images of it really make you think it's going to be quite bright, but it's just not...

I thought I'd use it as a good "the sky is finally clear but the moon is too close to my target, guess I'll just grab a couple of hours of the this" target, and that sort of backfired on me. 2.3hrs of broadband data during 79% moon doesn't get you much on this one!

I reall love the colour pallete, and the almost non-existent stars. Framing looks great too! Major advantage of essentially having 6 scopes - you can put together whatever scope you need to create whatever image you want... I got the Askar 65PHQ because I got mine quite cheap, in retrospect, the FRA400 may have been a better choice...

Alex! yes its dim target. The stars were really distracting so i took them out and put them back in less stretched lol. I think the Askar Scopes are all pretty good TBH. I've been researching them and looking on Astrobin and they all seem top quality (apart from the odd factory lemon!). Yes the Askar V was a gamble for me but I have used the fastest and now the slowest configs and all are good quality to me
