DARPA and NASA Aim to Test Nuclear Rocket by 2026

In a 7th August article at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
Spectrum magazine, Philip E Ross reports on a project by DARPA and NASA
to test flight a prototype nuclear powered rocket in 2026. The
demonstration is to explore the viability of faster trips to supply bases on
the Moon and Mars.

Kind of mad but then so is the idea of sending people to Mars.

Inevitable I suppose .

Please - no, don't do it........................or maybe it's an attempt to create a means to transfer product to a fixed orbit nuclear waste dump which won't affect local residents?

So much garbage sent up there already by self-serving inconsiderate imbeciles.

If the near space pollution of both redundant and surfeit working satellites is not enough, let's add a little nuclear waste to spice things up - wait for that to burn up on re-entry over Melbourne.
