Great shot! I tried to spot it tonight just outside Batemans Bay and can’t see anything naked-eye. Bit of cloud around so could be a factor but seems to be fainter tonight

Hi all just tuned in. Can anybody recommend an aurora australis app for the mobile, (android) that would be good. I had one a several years ago and over time I must have deleted it. I would love to see the lights before my time is up, it is on my wont to do list.
Has any body out there managed to get a coronado PST40 solar scope to focus with a camera attached? I have watched a couple of videos on the subject but I am having no luck, I am hoping that some one else may have some further suggestions on the setting up. I have tried all sorts of different adaptors eye pieces barlows, in many different configurations and nothing has worked for me.

Thanks for the comments, Derek. I've learnt a lot this time and will be better prepared next time for some automated time lapse sequences. I'll probably set up in one of the paddocks further east to get more of the south west view. Just need to ensure the sheep are in a different paddock for that.

Amazing shots Peter!,


I missed this one, I am so annoyed with myself!
My partner and I have been in Tas (Hobart) for the last 7 days.
Not watching any media for the week we were oblivious to the impending event!
On the best night I thought, wouldn't it be great to see an aurora while we are this far south . Again, completely oblivious to the KP index.

I had a quick look out our hotel window looking south,
around 11:30pm and even took a 20 sec exposure with my phone. Nothing.
We went to bed only to wake up to news that Tas had experienced an aurora and then seeing pics from mid NSW showing it too.

Hi Steve. I know the feeling of missing it. I woke one night and was wondering why the sky was so bright near new moon only to find out what was going on the next day. I've got my all sky cam working again now and was surprised how much activity there was on nights where there was no advertised Kp warnings.
