Little to be said

Another EP no longer in production, unable to be replaced, now gone to the never never.

Once again, maybe it's just me. This was a simple EP posted from NSW to NSW - 8,219kms and counting till it reached the Black Hole of Chullora, where it received extra special attention.

Good afternoon Rod

I have been monitoring your article and received responses back from all networks in Sydney and in Perth. I am sorry to advise you, that Australia Post is unable to locate the article.

The article has not been received in the Mail Distribution Centre (this is where damage articles are transferred to for dispatch if possible), because of this, we would deem the article lost in transit due to the lack of scans, past the Estimate Delivery Time and the communications from the network within my investigation.

I realise this is another disappointment for you and your customers, however, would refer you to reach out to the sender. Please ask the sender to make contact with Australia Post on 131318, to assist with any compensation that may be awarded in line with the service purchased.

Once again Rod, I do personally apologise for this disappointment and on behalf of Australia Post.

Regards

Susan

However, I remain somewhat flabbergasted as to why I should have to reach out to the sender. He did his bit, sent it immediately, and as far as I'm concerned that's the end of his responsibility. AP have acknowledged their responsibility to the item by posting tracking details saying as it is now in their custody. Time for the CEO's to descend from the ivory towers and accept some real responsibility. And yes, I'm once more out of pocket and grumpy....again.

I had a package that was lost in the mail ... no tracking updates and presumed lost. Turned up 9 months later after AusPost paid out minimal compensation. I then contacted AusPost to arrange to return the compensation money since the package was finally received. They said returning the payment was not necessary and to keep it for the inconvenience experience from the saga. So don't give up all hope.

Sadly I've learnt that unless you take out insurance on any item the maximum AP will pay out is $50 (or was).
I don't insist people put insurance on used items I buy.

I had a new $400 multimeter launched over my front fence by the AP rider because my front verandah was almost right on the fence line. I heard a thud, ran out the front and found the package laying on the porch. The neighbour saw the guy toss it.
I went to Aus post to complain and the then manager said "well it should have been packed properly, get the seller to contact us and we'll give you $50 compensation if he fills in the paperwork".
I argued it cost me a lot more and Aus post had a duty of care not to toss packages over the fence.

I eventually told her I'd simply wait behind my pine tree till the guy on his motorcycle came past and make my car suddenly appear and go over top of the MONGREL or simply stand there and coat hanger the guy as he rode past and suggested "maybe you'd better wrap him better (huge pine tree blocked the footpath).
She got annoyed, she screamed at me, I returned the anger and told her EXACTLY what I thought and suggested I'd do more harm to the delivery guy next time he came past. He got swapped with someone else, she left or got fired and strangely enough the same digital multimeter I still have to this day and use, that was 15+ years ago. Thankfully it was packaged well enough not to destroy the thing for it's flight. I went to the place in anger without even checking the function of the multimeter because I couldn't test every function immediately.

Well, whinge and win. Guess what turned up today after being in limbo for over 2 weeks. 298kms in 27 days - 11.03kms per day, and the item was totally lost on two occasions - address and barcodes clear/precise and undamaged......well done AusPost.

The resolutions department representative offered me to refund the $9.30 postage....I gracefully declined.

Bah!

Hmmm...
Your item must've dislodged mine because now mine's on the way too.

Hurrah....

When I check the tracking on items which never arrived on time, I’m surprised to see the number which appear to go back and forth between depots (in our case Sunshine and Golden Square) not just once but up to four times!!!
I assumed the package was trapped in a van and recorded on each visit.

It's good to hear you got your item and didn't have to mess around getting the pittance Aus post think you deserve for a high priced item gone missing.

Sent a telescope package to Perth the other week. Insurance is not a massive amount to pay I think for a value of $600 it was an extra $16 small investment for a fairly valuable item.
