M6 Butterfly Cluster

Hi all, heres one from the 11th. It was a great night for observing and imaging, an opportunity no to be missed.

Imaging was done with the 12" and DSI II Pro with a f/3.3 focal reducer.
All were 2 second subs with 60 in Lum and 20 each of RGB.
Processing was done in MaximDL.
I have also swapped the Meade IR filter for the Astronomiks IR/UV filter which I feel has made a big improvement in the quality of my images.

The shape of a upside down butterfly is quite evident hence the name.

Hope everyone enjoys it

Nice!
This is the very first non-planetary object I ever looked at through a telescope!
Every time I see it, I get back all those wonderful memories wondering what other objects are out there that I have never heard of...

Well done!

That's a beautiful image of M6, with the butterfly wings so clearly displayed. Love the colours of the stars too.

Cheers

Hi Ric

Nice image, I did a wider angle one myself a couple of weeks ago and also it's close neighbour M7.
