Mysterious Mars ‘doorway’ explained

May 13, 2022 by Editorial staff

The bizarre structure is a naturally occurring phenomenon, geologists say
A photo taken by NASA’s Curiosity rover on Mars that looks like a doorway cut into the side of a cliff is actually just dull ancient erosion, scientists explained, after people began speculating that the square structure may have been caused by alien species. created.
What appears to be a rectangular hole in the side of a cliff photographed by the rover last week was actually formed by: “normal geological processes”, Professor Sanjeev Gupta of Imperial College told the Daily Telegraph, pointing to a rock fracture he believes could have happened at any time in the past several hundred million years.

Looks like a scene on Skaro in a very early Doctor Who episode from the 60s.

I think this will be another ‘Face on Mars’ for those that want to believe.

What is particularly interesting is the layering of the rock and that it is an angle to the horizontal. A reasonable presumption is that such layering would have formed when horizontal with each layer being deposited one after an other either as lava or by water leaving a sediment as is normal in the formation of sedimentary rock.
But clearly the doorway was cut out by members of a ancient advanced civilization to access their vast underground world they created to hide when they first observed the early development of humans and their propensity to rely heavily on superstition and sensibly factored that alarming observation into how they would prepare for a future on a planet alongside these new superstitious animals.

Have you ever eaten a watermelon and then decided to play with the pips by placing one between your thumb and forefinger and pressing down? If you have then that is kind of the nature of the forces at play in "ejecting" the "rock door". The doorway is so perfectly formed because of the nature of the rock structure and cleavage planes/structure you can see, both deep inside the doorway towards the rear roof crack and, as an example, the sort of almost perpendicular cleavage plane/cracks that can be seen outside the doorway on the left of the image. These are interspersed throughout the rock and are being acted upon by geological forces as well as Mars gravity and act to deposit, form and move the rock and eventually to it being flung out / falling out.

Anyway ... the doorway is too small for even The Greys that live on Mars

It's that time of the year here as well. As the frosts come, we regularly hear loud cracks and splashes just prior to dawn, 2am if really cold. Water in fissures of the rock bars freezes, expands, and bang! Some fragments are considerable and leg-breakers.....quite spectacular, and at first we didn't know what the score was.

Could this be further evidence of water on Mars?

The Mos Eisley cantina entrance maybe?

Of course it's aliens.

No one would have believed
In the last years of the nineteenth century
That human affairs were being watched
From the timeless worlds of space
No one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinized
As someone with a microscope studies creatures
That swarm and multiply in a drop of water
Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets
And yet, across the gulf of space
Minds immeasurably superior to ours
Regarded this Earth with envious eyes
And slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us

"The chances of anything coming from Mars
Are a million to one" he said
"The chances of anything coming from Mars
Are a million to one, but still they come!"

It is hard to look at those rocks and not conclude they are sedimentary and probably formed from water depositing sediment... it is hard to imagine such thin layers could result from lava.

I suppose it could come from gradual depositing of dust and formed in the place we see them.

I was listening to a geology show on the car radio and agree with the lady who offered the view that she can not imagine how people can look at a rock formation and not wonder what process was responsible for what they see.

Earlier today in trying to have a sensible discussion with a theist about The Theory of Evolution and I was met with " if elvolution is true then how come The Universe is not teeming with life?"... and that sums up the problem with humans in that they make unevidenced assumptions for no other reason than it suits them.

Given it was quiet some time before we discovered life in places we did not expect life could survive ( black smokers) and would not be found ( rocks deep within the Earth ) I think that should tell us not to assume stuff as to do so is stupid...however I suspect that there may have been surface water on Mars, and the rock in the photo suggests such to be possible...and I bet that if there was water there would be life and it is not unreasonable to expect life to be found well underground, perhaps not intelligent beings managing some form of civilization but certainly something that you would find on this planet 3 to 4 billion years ago...

I do feel a major drilling effort is needed to find out...I was learning about animals on this planet that live deep down in the rocks and unfortunately can not relate more but if one is interested a Google will give you news on the discoveries no doubt.

But isnt it hard to think there could be life more advanced than us or routinely found on the most suitable planets, of which there must be billions or trillions...or that they may have evolved billions of years before us...wouldnt it be interesting to compare our views...their body shape? Their politics, customs superstitions ( if any) and say family organisation.

I really think there should be much more effort seeking other life rather than chasing gravity waves or the like or building temples, making fictional swill to destroy the human spirit er brain.

And let's get really serious about hedging our bets with our species spread around..at least on the Moon and Mars.

We are the first species to understand extinction is the rule not the exception and have the ability to save ourselves...it's just a logical step in evolution really.

Like how many mass extinctions so far..at least five..big ones and certainly many more smaller events that saw species go...

This is so serious it calls for T shirts to be made.

Yes - and we would be aliens.

Reality - we'll be very lucky if we find evidence of microbial life
from billions of years ago when Mars had a hospitable environment.

"The last rock out of the western arm is almost gone..."

"Space rocks that fell to Earth within the last century contain the five bases that store information in DNA and RNA, scientists report April 26 in Nature Communications.

These “nucleobases” — adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine and uracil — combine with sugars and phosphates to make up the genetic code of all life on Earth."

Quite possibly everywhere else too I'd guess...
