Deliveries and non-deliveries.

I have of late been rather more prudent placing orders for gear. Some platforms I'm now avoiding like a plague. Ordered (both on 14/12) some tripod fittings ex Melbourne; and set of Newt mirrors ex mainland China. Tripod parts "may" arrive tomorrow, mirrors confirmed for delivery tomorrow. So.....10 days from Melbourne and China. Melbourne seller simply didn't send the gear for 5 days, yet the mirror man wanted my business. Most gear I'm getting to the outer regions of NSW from China has been avge 15=17 days lately, and on the improve. 2 other orders from USA were 20 days which I also thought quite acceptable. (USPS - Global Program - stalled Kentucky a few days)

I ordered some LRGB filters from Testar in NSW on Monday, they arrived on the Wednesday (Perth). I cannot fault their shipping times.

I think Testar must pay for a higher level of Auspost service. They are ALWAYS quick, and generally give more details in their post tracking as well.

My favourite astronomy store, hands down.

Bintel was good for me this week - ordered an adapter I needed at about 1:00AM Tuesday morning & had it Wednesday. Bintel got it out fast & then AusPost surprised me.

Yeah, it's always a mixed bag. Earlier in the year I waited 7 weeks for something to arrive from mainland USA via USPS. On the other hand items ordered direct from ZWO seem to arrive within 3 or 4 days - via courier admittedly.

But this Xmas Australia Post has really surprised me. There were a few things that I wasn't really expecting to make it before Xmas and the last of them arrived yesterday. Not sure what they're doing, but Auspost is kicking goals for me this season.

Yes agree. I ordered kit from Testar on Monday, arrived regional NSW next morning. This service performance (all during Covid disruptions and Christmas rush) was very pleasing. I always use Express Post option - for very little additional cost.
