You down under folks are definitely in a better location to image this beauty, here in Italy does not get higher then 20°.
But I still wanted to give it a try....

It is an RGB composition, all in bin 2, I hope you like it.

Very good result Nicola. Hard yakka from your location. You must have good dark skies to get this kind of photo at 20 degrees. Kudos.

@multiweb: not very dark, but the south horizon is pretty good. Obviously I imaged that area only on the most transparent nights (rare).

Nice detail from such a low object but the low angle has also caused it to be too red.

This galaxy has a dusty centre which is a yellow/brown and then the outer ring has star formation bluish areas.

So you will need to correct the red gradient to bring these out. Its also sometimes depicted as quite silvery and called the Silver Dollar galaxy.
