Paramount MX (MyT, MX+) timing belts in stock anyone?

G'day - anyone know where I can pickup a Paramount MX belt? My DEC belt has a loose tooth :-S

Most mount drive belts are standard off the shelf items, I found belts for my CGX on eBay. You just need the right dimension figures, width, length, tooth count, tooth width and depth, etc. Your drive system should have some adjustment range as well.

I agree with Greg. Not going to suggest that bisque are the easiest to deal with sometimes. But they are detail focused and will have the exact belt for your particular mount, they do care deeply about their product.

Thanks folks - I checked in with Don's team today at Bintel - nothing there. I am going to ask Diego and Paul to start stocking them, seems buts that something like this isn't in the country!

Minaturebearings didn't have any in stock sadly.

The good news, SB's prices now reflect something closer to reality! Their shipping however ;-)

When the MX first came out SB used a black coloured belt. It was defective and shed particles that caused bumps in the PE, bad bumps.

They sent out replacements with a brown coloured belt which did not do that.

So the mount is somewhat sensitive to the type of belt and you would have no way of knowing if a particular belt will have that problem or not.

Best to pay the price and get original parts otherwise you could be redoing it anyway in 3 months time when you get lousy PE.

Greg.

Thanks Greg - agreed, my issue isn't really with their pricing so much as the $130USD they want to charge me to ship them (not adding, just re-checked my cart on their website to make sure I hadn't left a counterweight in there!)

Often US shipping is extremely expensive. I think its because the USPS is considered to be very poor and Fedex and the like dominate and they charge whatever their business allows them to.

Ask an MX owner to post/photo the number codes on the belt. I sourced my grey (I.e. not the crappy black) MX replacement belts from an Oz belt supplier. 100% the same as SB use...

Thanks Logan - I am going to bite the bullet and batch up a small order of bits from SB to make the $150 freight worthwhile - anyone need anything?
