I have been watching the Brisbane weather radar over the past few days, and the storm cells look pretty relentless. Hopefully IIS members in the area have battened down the hatches and secured their lawn furniture.
The worst of it seems to be moving away to the east now.
Someone up there must have purchased some high end astro gear.

Just looked at the BoM long term summer forecast and doesn't look promising for much astro activity, at least catchment water levels are still increasing in most areas and bushfire risk is lower(but still there).

Wasn’t me

We’ve had almost 100mm of rain the past 24 hrs, in the form of short sharp showers, which isn’t anything to write home about up here in summer, but the wind is picking up now.

It’s supposed to peak later today/tonight with more wind and rain lashing the coastline.

We could use the rain, as this year has been mostly dry.

I tipped 105mm out of the gauge this morning here on the Gold Coast. Wind is picking up but the observatory is rock solid and dry inside

I bought your GSO 8 inch f/5 OTA just before the clouds set in.

I now have again 12,000 Liters of Rain Water in my tanks in the last 48hrs.
and it's bucketing down outside right now.
and NO ...I haven't bought any gear for quite a while.

Travelled home yesterday each side of of the M1 around tweed looked like a lake, a lot of the beach and fore dunes at byron have gone to sea on the king tide this morning another bigger tide in the morning wont help things much .

Just heard the Gold Coast Hinterland has had 800mm of rain since it started.
That's almost a meter of water heading for the coast.

It won't get far, the New Moon high tide is tomorrow morning at around 9:40am, further pushed by onshore winds and big swells, so run off will back up.

Yes Dunk the forecast is for rain all week from tomorrow. I have already buttoned up the observatory. Alex reported he has some minor observatory leaks to deal with, but the dam is filling. I saw a local news report from The Waterfall Way and the various falls were raging. Bellingen maybe cut off if the bridge goes under.
