T'was fair persisting down at the time. Been keeping an eye on the radar and the original plan was to hopefully catch something from the Haven looking west back over Terrigal but, the rain arrived before the lightning so I ended up taking shelter under the Surf Club.
Couldnt afford the Manfreto (spelling?) I wanted so, a Hoffmann PTG-470 (don't tell Amanda!) seemed sturdy enough at half the price. Everything is made of metal and it doesn't seem to flex and carry on in the wind.

One more just to help my number of posts. This time looking North West over Wamberal. Note the seagulls basking themselves in the warm glow of those damn floodlights.
Just home from a search and rescue in Kanangra Walls, and nearly got stung by one of those things!Instantaneous light and noise! I don't know how close or what direction... just glad I heard it! They reckon you don't hear the one that gets you!
actually you will hear a buzz or a click sound, a split second before. Two of my close friends have been indirectly hit (most common form of lightning injury) One was on a salt beach surrounded by water, and the lightning hit a fence post that was in the water and also buried by the salt beach, the discharge went through the fence and arced up into his feet. He was lucky. My other friend was at a wedding and was leaning up against a rail when the lightning hit the rail, both he and a friend of his were thrown to the ground. The lightning went through the rail into his hip and exited through his head. VERY lucky... Both heard a click prior to being indirectly hit.
