M20 initial Ha sketch

Hi all,

Inspired by Diego's beautiful image of M20 and given that last time I attempted imaging Trifid in 2014, I thought of trying again.

New initial Ha data: https://www.astrobin.com/full/412695/0/?nc=user

I honesty did not expect seeing so much ionised hydrogen surrounding the M20. It will be a nice challenge to show the fainter bits and make the M20 pop.

Still need a few more hours of Ha, and then will take samples of OIII, SII and NII and will see which two will complement Ha in the most interesting way.

Thank you for looking

Very nice Suavi!
There is a bucket load of Ha in the area. The features on the left side have interested me for a while.

Thank you Colin.

I am still awaiting a clear night to move on with the project.

Ultra-deep.

We especially like the spider-webby network toward top right.

Thank you Mike and Trish. The top right corner grabbed my attention too, and that’s why I would like to go a bit deeper. There are a few similar structures slowly showing up on the right hand side of M20, and also in the bottom right corner. I think the top right corner could make for an interesting target just by itself. So many fascinating objects to image, so few clear nights...
