Log in drops outs when posting replies

Since my Son has become a member of the Forum, I am having problems posting replies.
I have to log in manually now, (before it was automatic) read the posts, compose a reply, then when I try to send it, I get a message that I am not logged in, so I lose my reply and have to do it all again.
BTW it seems to happen only when I am replying to an original post of mine, when I try to respond to multiple replies and have to re-read each of them before responding.
That sounds like gobbledegook, I hope you understand what is happening.

Mike

1) Make sure "remember me" is ticked when you login. If your son and you are both using the same computer (and logging in as different names), you will no doubt have to login each time.

2) Make sure your cookies are being saved.

Is that Son of Sausageman?

But seriously, I didn't want to say before because I thought it was me/stupid or something, but I've had similar problems, but in my case, no Son has registered!

It hasn't happened as much lately though. BTW, yes, I have ticked the remember me box.

Cheers

I've occassionally had to log in for no apparent reason, i'm not sure why yet. It doesn't happen often though, maybe once every 3-5 days.

I had a similar problem a while ago. Very very frustrating.
Solved it by changing my internet privacy down to Medium.
This will save your cookies.

On the tool bar click on Tools.
Click on Internet Options.
Click on Privacy.
Adjust slider to Medium.

It's worth a try.

I used to have "remember me" clicked, but when my son joined I unclicked it.
This problem occurs almost everytime now.
Privacy has always been set at medium.
I wanted him to register as Son of Sausageman, but he wouldn't have it..LOL

The posting rules below the text box still say "you may post messages", but a message appears saying I am not logged on.

Mike.

Yep, with the box unclicked, and if you so much as pause in your typing, it kicks you out - well not quite that quickly, but enough to give me grief when I first joined. I always click "remember me" now and not just 'cause I have an inferiority complex

Ahh,
That is it in a nutshell, that is what's happening.
So if we both log in and click the remember me box, it will automatically log in to the last user, then we have to log out of that and log back in with our own name.
Computer programs!!!!!!! You have to punch information into them, just like a guy I work with.
I will try that solution and inform "Son of Sausageman"AKA "Nebulabeing". We have to do that with ICQ also.
I think "Son of Sausageman" is a much better name.
Thanks Erick.

Mike.

I just checked that but it is already set at medium but thanks anyway.

I have also tried deleting temporary internet files , clearing cache and ticking the remember me box but it still unlogs me after a few minutes of no activity.

What browser & version are you using Daniel?
Any firewall/image blocker-type add-ons installed?
Seems odd to have had the problem for so long. Must be a pain!

If you're getting logged out, it's most likely because cookies are not being saved. Or possibly your browser deletes cookies after you close it. Have you checked to see if cookies are being deleted as part of some privacy settings?

I know that IE7 is not quite right. If you are using IE7, then I have no solution for you.
If you are using IE7 and you were using IE6, did this happen then?
If you are using IE6 you can try clearing your cookies, close all your browser instances right after doing that and then log in again.

i allso use a firefox addon called cooliris

you can download it here just a small effort to register it (from memory)

http://www.cooliris.com/Site/index.html

what it does is "Cooliris Previews

Cooliris Previews is a free browser add-on that lets you preview links without clicking or leaving your current page. Now you can browse faster than ever! "

well worth the effort if you browse a lot thats

G'Day,
Yes I'm using IE7 so that must be where the present problem is coming from, although I must point out that it never happens on any other group that I'm a member off, also when I was using IE6 I was never able to get it to "remember me" I have always had to type in my password since joining this group.and as a matter of interest I always format my C: partition about every 3 mths to get rid of any cxxp that some programs leave behind after they have been uninstalled.

That's perplexing. There isn't anything particularly special about the forum on IceInSpace. It's the same forum software used on 1000's of other sites. So it is a puzzle, no doubt.
You don't have any security applications, firewalls, spam blockers, etc. installed? Any virus software that integrates with IE, things like that?

Sorry, I just don't know what the problem could be. I'd like to say, install firefox because it's the best browser on the planet, but that doesn't quite help you, if you'd rather use IE.
Dunno. Sorry.
