Comet McNaught Animation from Snake Valley

Animation of the movement of Comet McNaught P1 2006

I should have thought of doing this a week ago while the sky was Moonless and the tail reached right up into the sky displaying the whole fan, but here it is anyway. With lots of Moon.

Comet McNaught from Snake Valley, Victoria, Australia, by Ken James (ballaratdragons)
28th January 2007
Unaided Modified Toucam 840k Pro II in Long Exposure Mode
17 x 15 second images, captured in 'Desire' and animated in 'PaintShop Pro Animation Shop'.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Once the Moon racks off again I am going to try an Animation starting in Daylight, then show the comet magically appearing as the sky darkens, thru to full comet in pitch dark sky.

Should be an interesting effect.

Perhaps it's time to get up early and film comet rise?

When does it go circumpolar from your location, ballaratdragons? I had a feeling Melbourne is about now. After the moon goes, you can keep going until Moonrise .

Cheers
Tony
