Saw some trippy stuff outside just then (from Adelaide)

I thought it was the moon - I was driving home from work at 11 30pm. It was really low to the ground and bright orange and resembled a 1/4 moon. It was like something I havnt seen before.

Ne idea if nething was going on tonight?

What direction were you looking? I would say you WERE looking at the Moon Setting.

When the moon is very low on the horizon, it's affected by all the dust and crud low down in the atmosphere, and gives it an often orange/red colour.. it also appears much larger than normal thanks to the "moon illusion".
