Energy Australia Lacks IQ

Had an interesting conversation with the staff of Energy Australia this week !!!

Hereafter Energy Australia will be EA

Turns out that an EA customer submitted an application for their electricity and their gas supply BUT in their application they mistakenly wrote my son's address instead of their own address a harmless mistake

Not Quite

EA then advised ACTEW-AGL (my son's electricity and gas suppliers) that they, EA, are taking over the supply and that ACTEW-AGL can close the account

So then ACTEW-AGL closed both of my son's accounts at the premises my son owns and resides in.....

Fast forward to a conversation I had with EA ........
I advised them that the problem had arisen and that now EA's client was apparently paying for the electricity and gas supply to my son's premises as my son no longer receives any bills but has ongoing gas and power

Then this idiotic woman at EA then tells me there is nothing they are going to do about it and that it is too bad for their own client if they made a mistake and are paying my son's accounts. This halfwit woman also refused to allow me to talk to her supervisor about the matter as I was not one of their clients. She further said that EA will not be disturbing their client so will not advise that client of the error...
Her resolution was to suggest that my son should consider becoming an EA customer.

She did seem to get a little upset when I said:
" So you are quite happy that it is right for your client to mistakenly continue paying an account for a property he has never set foot in and then you want my son to become a client of EA just so he has to deal with moronic halfwits like yourself

In all honesty this was without doubt the lowest IQ person I have spoken to in years, and that takes some doing

End of rant we now return you to astronomy topics

So in short, your son is getting free gas/electricity and the only way he can stop this himself is to become a customer of the company that made the mistake in the first place?

Its obvious they didn't do the most basic of identity checks, so why not just ring up the original mob and ask them to transfer it back to themselves.
The company wanting to get the business will use whatever methods they can to get it ;-)

Perhaps a letter to them.
Sometimes folk hold a job when they should not.
The fact she would not let you talk to the supervisor suggests nonsense.
To let the situation continue means they are obtaining money under false pretence which perhaps is a crime. For your Son to let this continue may put him at risk one could think.
It would be strange if everyone in that place dealt with the matter in the way the woman did.
Nevertheless you should not let it upset you.

Seems some people lose tolerance as they get older Should have seen the kerfuffle when I advised my (EX!) energy supplier Origin they had misread the meter. (up 255% on previous read) After discussing this for some extended period with the Phillipine call centre, I finally got some action by calling their media centre line in Melbourne. (A very craftily hidden number) They said but you've got the media office, to which the reply was "if you can't put me through to the Melb sales office I'm going to the media! They wanted $95.00 to come out and have another go at reading a very basic analogue readout before doing anything else. A couple of emails to the energy ombudsman later had it sorted, and apart from the extra $2.00 for the postage of the renewed bill they almost got it right. Refused to pay the bill till they credited the $2 postage first, the person on the other end of the phone declaring "why can't you just pay it, its only a couple of dollars", then she got upset when I invited her to pay it out of her own pocket if that's all it was. As a result, Red Energy now has a new customer and I recommend them. (They're supposedly 100% Aus, but I take that with a grain of salt.)

I had similar issue with Simply Energy. I wasn't getting billed so called Customer Service. They found my account was closed for some reason and said I need to contact Power Networks (?) (the company who read the meters) as the closed account was caused by them.

What!? Simply Energy is the retailer and biller so should sort it out. I said I need to talk to the energy ombudsman and then she said she would pass the matter to billing disputes. Disputes department phoned me and all sorted.

So if getting no-where, mention the energy ombudsman and that prompts Customer Service to upscale the issue.

You obviously didn't speak to the Dodo NBN Company if you think that the energy company owned all the half wit employees.
