Dead Gemini 2 Ethernet port?

Hoping some of the gurus on this forum can help out.
My G11 no longer has a working Ethernet port. It used to work fine, but now I can't connect to it. I was using a crossover cable to my laptop, and noticed that only one of the two leds on the port were illuminated. In case it was the cable, I switched to an Ethernet hub and two cables, but still the cable to the Gemini 2 only shows one light. The mount works normally through the graphichand controller, and all the network settings look fine in the hc. The mount is a few years old now and I've never replaced the internal battery, but this doesn't sound like a typical symptom. Anyone experienced anything similar?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew.

Are your cables factory made or hand made. If hand mde not all rj45 jacks are equal. I can make them if you require and test them out

Hi Ben - the cables are fine unfortunately, it looks like an internal problem, the port in the Gemini is completely unresponsive.

Can't hurt, and it's an easy test!
Cheers
Andrew.

How often did you connect a cable to the port? If often, then you may have caused cracked joint on the circuit board.

Could just be a need to remove the board and hit the pins with a soldering iron.

That's easy enough for me to check and fix, but I'm concerned that the last time I put it away it was working, then 6 months later it isn't. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look tonight and test.
Cheers
Andrew.

Fixed!

What I'd failed to appreciate was that in the time the mount was put away I'd changed over to a new home network. The subnet mask on the ethernet on the laptop was different to the gemini, I changed it, and it all works again!
thanks for your suggestions everyone, I guess I always assu,e it's a hardware fault, but firmware and software settings are much more likely to change without warning!

Fixing or modifying things doesn't make it cloudy. Someone bought something.
But watch out Perth, my new OTA is on its way from Austria in the next couple of weeks. Cloudy christmas this year!
Cheers,
Andrew.
