Just heard NASA has scheduled a press conference for 3am AEST tomorrow (11/5/16), apparently to talk about some Kepler findings. It will be streamed on NASA TV. Since i will be up imaging i will tune in. Speculation?
Watched it. Basically they more than doubled the verified objects, many of these are earth or near earth, super earth sized in their sun's habitable zone. It is worth watching the stream, good charts.
I watched/listened as I was unable to sleep (no not from the prospect of alien life being discovered!).
Interesting to hear how the successive telescopes TESS, JWST and WFIRST will help continue the work. Ie; the ability to block out the light from the parent star and gather that reflected from the orbiting planets... to enable them to determine composition I believe.
