Mount for a 6 inch refractor.

Does anyone know if a surveyors mount made into a telescope mount can handle a large refractor? Problem is the mounts are just as expensive as the ota. Any other solutions to hold a large refractor? I think the otas weigh about 15kgs. I dont want no goto stuff just a mount and maybe i will stick on the positions later. Any help is appreciated.

What is the f ratio? f8 perhaps? An EQ6 is great for that size. In the classifieds is a mount Astroboy (Zane) is selling which is a total bargain and perfect for what you want....but looks like it could be sold already.

I have had a 6" f8 on a motorised EQ5 that was OK and did better with a home made wooden tripod. As for a surveyors tripod....don't see many of these around so I think maybe not for 15kgs on top.

I've had a 150mm F8 on a G11.... easy! You can use the mount with or without the drive system. G11-G1 would be plenty but you may regret getting a "simple" mount if you get more into the hobby. G11-G2 is excellent option with plenty of scope to grow.
