Lightbulb Fred Watson - Darkness is disappearing & that's bad news for astronomy

In a piece today in The Conversation, Fred Watson writes on the impact light
pollution is having on astronomy, wildlife and humans.

As Fred reminds us, 2015 is the International Year of Light and
Light-Based Technologies and until the advent of radiotelescopes
in the "1930's, every scrap of information about the universe came to us in the form of light".

Nicely written (although concerning) article. Thanks for sharing, I always appreciate reading Fred Watson's material

Fred thinks 350km from Sydney is remote? If only they had built in the northern Flinders.

According to the dark sky finder website, Siding Springs only just makes it as a dark sky site, and that’s from the survey in 2006. It may well no longer be in that category.
