After having missed several opportunities to witness the Aurora Australis from Tasmania and Sydney, I decided to visit the city of northern lights in the hopes of viewing the spectacle once and for all. It certainly paid off

.
I was extremely fortunate to witness the northern lights from Tromso on 7 out of the 9 nights, with 3 been absolutely exceptional. I've taken hundreds if not thousands of images in the hope of creating a time lapse. These photos were the ones which I particularly liked.
The best way I could describe the experience of viewing the northern lights is in the words of Austrian explorer Julius von Payer, "No pencil can draw it, no colors can paint it, and no words can describe it in all its magnificence".
