My Best Moon EVER!!!!!!

Hi all,

I had to post this pic! It is (I believe) my best EVER Moon pic.

Captured tonight in howling winds and misty cloud!!!!

The statistics:
ED80 on Giant EQ mount (the Big Fella), Toucam 840k Pro II at Prime Focus.

Made up of 9 images (top left, top middle, top right, centre left, etc).

All 9 images are 500 frames each at: 15 FPS, Brightness - 50% , Gamma - 0%, Saturation - 100%, shutter 1/1000th, Gain 30%.

The 9 seperate sections stitched together in 'Autostitch'

I hope you like it as much as I do

You should remember that the moon is made of Green Cheese!
Great shot Ken and the stitched photos came out fantastic.

No Eric, no filters.

That is the colour straight out of the Toucam. Yes, this shot seems to show a lot of green colouring but you can also make out some brown and purplish areas too.

I also did a version with the colours bumped up in PaintShop Pro to get a multi-coloured version but I think the hazy cloud filtered most of it out. It wasn't much different to the one above.

Here is a more subtle version for people who don't like 'coloured' Moon pics.

Yep Lester. It's pics like this that are a perfect example of the 'Apo' qualities of the ED's.

No Chromatic Abberation!

I think Petra was asking the question to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with her screen?

Can't find any negative comment here directly relating to "coloured" moon pics

No Matt, I wasn't meaning anyone thought negative. Just that some people prefer Grey Moon pics to bring out more contrast and detail. Often the image is treated to 'Grey Scale'.

I personally like both ways as they give differing effects.

Here is the same image in Grey Scale so you can see the difference in effects.

Me too, Ken.

I like being able to see the different elements contained on the lunar surface, creating those different colours.

Good stuff
