Here are a couple of impressions from my most recent trip to the MacKenzie, 10 days ago. Conditions were great, seeing 8/10, transparency 9/10, sky darkness beyond 21 mag/arcsecē, temperature between -5 and -10°C. As if the zodiacal light, airglow and a beautiful reflection of Venus and Jupiter in the bright blue waters of Lake Pukaki wasn't enough, the Aurora also joined the show. Spent many hours at the eyepiece that weekend.
