South Pacific Star Party "Centaurus A"

This image was taken on the first night of SPSP at Wiruna dark sky site.
A fabulous event once again (my second SPSP) with really interesting talks, demonstrations. Lovely dark skies and awesome sponsors together make for an attractive few nights of camping , observing and meeting people.
I only managed marginal polar alignment this first night so this image is around a 50% crop of the 1000D sensor. I had around 40 subs captured but could only use 28 as I think a cable jam put pay to many of the latter subs. Anyways they were all 5 minute subs at 1600 ISO. I also removed the field flattener / reducer to get a slightly larger subject in my little refractor.

Nice one Bruce, the dark skies have brought out the fainter extensions more than mine. Pity about the lost subs, you been able to locate the problem? I'm hoping to make SPSP next year, looks like you've all had fun!

Thanks Andy, the cable snag was avoidable if I was keeping an eye on proceedings, but hey, it is a party after all. The red wine and socialising took precedence. It wasn't until it was too late when I discovered the problem.

I reckon you could probably get away with a slight crop which would get rid of those slightly imperfect stars in the corners (that are presumably due to the removal of the FF).
