Autoguider or not to autoguider

I have a Meade 8" LX90 I would like to take longer exposures. What's the best way to go about doing this a wedge? Or a autoguider? Or both a autoguider and a wedge?

Try a wedge first you should get about 4 mins, if that isn't enough then a guider.

I'd recommend the auto-guider and the wedge (perhaps a finder guider so as not to increase the weight of the system) and a flattener to shorten your Focal Length.

They can be a challenge to get polar aligned, especially at native focal length.

An 8" f/10 LX90 with a wedge, and accurately polar aligned, will give
around 50-60 second subs if unguided. With a reducer it will give
around 80-90 secs. Even if you get an autoguider, you still have to get a wedge to eliminate field rotation.
