Finally go around to posting an image from the eclipse. As with most people we were plagued by clouds so we couldn't capture the event from go to whoa, however we got some clear viewing just the same.
the first image was taken at 20:46 AEST just a few minutes after HIP4323 popped over the limb.
Image 2 was just before HIP 4559 slipped behind the disk.
I've just realised that it has been a long time since I've checked the time setting in my camera so my times might be out. According to my camera HIP 4559 was right on the limb at 21:19:49 (last image).
Talk about equipment issues... The setup was not too bad, but once again I had to drag the mount 3 metres to the right as the window we calculated from the footpath in front of our house was not quite right... again. Once again I was lucky and the scope was pretty well aligned but I accidental lost the custom white balance for my camera. the result below. Not happy at the time.
Fixed the WB by custom balancing on the Moon. The scope was my old Vixen 4".
Thanks John, we also had to contend with poor seeing in Brisbane. The shots of totality I have posted, certainly the last two, were through very hazy conditions and from 1.5 to 2 seconds duration. I'm not an expert but I thought that generally a lunar eclipse would present low contrast images.
