RIP - Richard Attenborough

What? No tribute to Richard Attenborough.

Didn't know he was still alive... I remember him best from "The Great Escape".

"Welcome... to Jurassic Park!"

Yes, and The Great Escape, The Flight of the Phoenix, and many more...

He was the quintessential supporting actor. RIP

Cheers
Steffen.

"The Flight of the Phoenix" is one of my all time favourite films, he was fantastic in that.

"A Bridge Too Far". Intelligent and masterful direction.

A movie that only gets better with each viewing.

With CGI not having been invented yet, Attenborough had to resort
to assembling as many C-47's and thousands of extras to parachute out of them
as he could get his hands on.

The result of having to use real planes and real people jumping out of them
is visually stunning, both in its sense of scale and grandeur
and in conveying the sense of trepidation and fear one might have had
if you had been one of those guys making the jump.
