Corona Australis Mosaic

Two panels 15x6 min for each filter.

Full sensor res version 13MB

PixInsight's Gradient Merge Mosaic does a very good job to eliminate seams with tricky objects like faint dust.

The second image is the best I could do with RegiStar.

What scope did you use?

Registar will do a better registration than PI. Do you have Photoshop? That seam can be taken care of by the autoblend feature in PS.

Marc you are very correct! I use Registar to produce a registered calibrated image of panel2. Dynamically crop this image to get rid of borders. Then PI has no problems with alignment.

Certainly your best image to date in terms of processing. The high res version though shows some star interconnected structures which generally indicates that a star reduction process has taken place. Or some sort of minimum tool/filtering has been undertaken. Overall though the colour is very nice and the field of view is excellent.

I can only say all I ever wanted to be was a lumberjack...

All jokes aside the system is starting to give me what I want. Decent deep wide fields I can use to make striking informative detailed mosaics.

It is not about resolution Hubble gives us that. I do not care for competitions as it demeans all our efforts second rate on a limited judgment no matter how eminent.

I do this because I want to produce images MY WAY. I do not give a hoot about fashion so why should I start now.

If anyone wants the full raw data I will make it available for download. Just PM me.

The RH200 matches the FSQ 106 almost perfectly as far as star profiles are concerned.

If I had the resources I would have a FSQ106 on top of the RH200 collecting data at the same time.

Bert
