A productive week

Hi all,

Having had two full weekend astrophotography trips cancelled I decided to make the most of what I could this week, spending two nights taking photo's locally.

Night one was a 10 minute drive, 30 mins photography, 10 min drive home.
Night two was a walk to my neighbours backyard where there's a nice clearing.

I'm yet to process most of the pics from night #2 but here's some from both evenings.

I enjoyed having the inspiration to get half decent shots in a short period of time and with minimal processing fuss. I really haven't spent more than 10-30mins processing any of these shots, they all just have basic levels, noise, saturation, bit of shading maybe, and in one case a stack for the foreground.

Love to hear what you think. They are bluer than I usually do the tones, but think people will like that

they are great roger and i am pleased that we dont necessarily have to go out bush to get a decent pic!
i like #2 especially, what camera and lens, and did you use a static tripod and use the 500 rule?

Thanks It is nice I suppose, sometimes hard to realise nice spots are in your own backyard.

Thanks Pat, we just have to sit down and think about local spots which make the most of the situation, not always easy to do.

#2 is three 30s exposures, although surprisingly perhaps the stack is only used on the foreground to get less noise in the lit foreground. The rest of the frame is one 30s exposure, I liked it just how it was a single shot so didn't complicate it with a stack. All 3 exposures were taken on a Vixen Polarie on photo tripod, so are tracked at sidereal rate.

Camera: Canon 6D @ 6400ISO
Lens: I think it was the Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 (wide, full open). I say "think" because I was using the Tamron and Canon 17-40 f/4 on the night and right now the power's out here so I can't access the EXIF on the files on the NAS [edit: checked - my guess was right!]
