NGC4755 The Jewel Box cluster

Attempt at the Jewel Box. It's rather small isn't it! I dunno, my pic is missing something, I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's Mimosa? I couldn't easily fit it in.

SW ED100 at F9, 62 x 30 seconds at ISO 1600, Pentax K-x. I should redo this with my "new" old Pentax K-5 and see if it looks more gooderer. Full frame at Astrobin.

It is very small/compact and I think this is one that looks better through the eyepiece. Here is my attempt 8"f6 newt.

Hi again Kevin, I have found over many years, that it looks it's finest
photographically, when only a single sub is taken. The beauty is lost
when multiple subs introduce hoards of fainter stars that confuse the simplicity of the cluster. My favourite image of it was a sub of 8 secs
with pin sharp focus. Give it a try and see what you think.

Thanks Rick and Ray. I think this is one object that looks way better visual, but then Mike made a great 1 hour exposure of it, so I dunno.

Here's a couple of single sub frames. No alteration at all other than a crop. They might still be too long though at 30 seconds.

I think mine was only a single 30 sec shot, but it seems a lot harder to get pinpoint stars in a (digital) camera than visually?

Yeah the camera will bloat stars unless very short, low ISO setting are chosen, but where's the fun in that?
