The dynamic range is a real killer and it took a fair while to get it under some sort of control and with reasonable colour. The background is a bit mottled, since there is a fair bit of stuff around the object as shown in the heavily stretched and thresholded second image.
Thanks for looking. regards Ray

Ha, 5 hour of 5 minute subs, RGB, ~1 hour each of 200 second subs.
On my iPad, the image looks very good. I like the colour and I think it is close to the hubble image of a few years ago. Impressive detail. Something I must add to the list for the RC12.

Thanks Paul. There is some background stuff that could be teased out with longer exposure - could be interesting

thanks Alistair. this is heavily cropped. I have a somewhat larger image and will put it on astrobin, but I cropped early to save processing time.

Thanks Greg - I hadn't noticed that, but you are right, it does look like a butterfly.
That is very nice Ray. Love the colour and it looks quite natural and not pushed too far. I don't like the gaudy look seen so often; I think you really know where to draw a line in the sand.
That turned out well Ray. I think you should be happy.
Cheers
Steve
thanks Steve - yes, am pleased with how it turned out.

That normally invisble "jet" showing up under extreme stretch looks veeeery interesting is it real or is it your imagination looks real to me
Mike
I think that it's real - might be from the PN, but it could also just be cirrus or low level Ha emission. will try to get some more data with the PN set into the far corner to see what the background sky looks like - good project for the next moonlit night + poor seeing.

Thanks Peter - it is always hard to know how far to go with colour, so thanks for the feedback
