My first multi sub try at M42

38 subs 15-30 secs each. ISO 400. Best viewed at 150% screen.

Thanks Bruce, yes quite pleased, especially as the moon was only
30-40 degrees from M42 last night. It shows that brighter DSOs
can be imaged quite well when the moon is up.

Hi Cam, I was able to reduce the noise further, but I lost most of the
wispy detail, so decided to compromise.

Hi Ray nice image, if you look closely in the background you can see
horizontal lines my 1100d is showing the same lines any idea as to what might be doing this?.

Hi Paul, The vague horizontal lines are, as far as I know, noise.
You can reduce, or even remove them, but in objects with a
wide dynamic range such as M42 you lose some or most of the
lovely wispy detail. As I said in my previous post, I compromised.
With objects such as star clusters you can often remove them
completely, unless like M45 the stars have nebulosity associated
with them. I'm a digital newbie, so I wouldn't take my explanation as gospel.
