First premium eyepieces

Hi all, I've finally done it. Just ordered a pentax xw10 and a televue 2x Barlow. I am now poor but excited. I'm not expecting to use them together often but I figured I now have a top quality Barlow which I can use on eps I get later. I'm probably still going to get a ES 100 degree 20mm, but will have to wait now. At least I will have planetary covered and let's face it, the moon interferes with my deep sky observing half the time anyway. Super excited to view Saturn with the xw10. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this decision, it was really hard to narrow it down. The more research I did the more eps I wanted. Best deal I could find on the xw was bhphotovideo, if anyone was wondering

Good one Jas
The only thing with XW's…can't stop at one, at least I couldn't.

Hahaha. Maybe a 30mm so I can barlow to 15. Giving me 30,15,10,5. Yeah, that sounds pretty useful. And cheaper than getting all of them. Do they barlow well? With a quality barlow?

Good luck finding a 30, they stopped making them around the time of the Fukushima incident.

Besides the 30 is 2" and the heaviest of the lot...but it is a beauty

Barlows are never as useful as the concept appears, IMO

Ok, so I got home and my xw10 was here and clear sky. As unusual as this is, I went about setting up my scope and went inside for a while and let the mirror cool. Went outside 1 hour later with my xw in hand and there was 100% cloud. Another hour went past and it had cleared a little bit so I attempted some observing. I couldn't get a look at anything without fighting the cloud so I eventually gave up and disassembled the scope only to find it completely clear 20minutes later. This has to be the most frustrating hobbie imagineable. Will try again tommorow. The xw is the first premium eyepiece I have looked through really and I found that I wanted to press my eyeball against it because of the pinhole I'm used to looking into. It took me a while to learn to back off a bit. I think I am going to like it. Also got a televue 2x barlow and a 16mm T2 Nagler on the way from the US so more cloudy skies to look forward to.

Congrats Jas, hope you enjoy your new eyepiece

The trick with the XW is to unscrew the rubber eye cap until you find a comfortable position. For me that's almost all the way out
