Urban NGC2997 region

While waiting for a different quarry last night, I decided to point the scope at the NGC2997 region for quick exposure.... Thin cloud gradually rolled in (causing uber gradients) ending in solid overcast by 11:00pm.

My take on the result is: not great, but not bad either....amazing what crappy weather does for one's expectations

That is quite presentable. It shows the light gathering power to get an image at all with that exposure time.

There are quite a few interesting galaxies in this field.

You've got to get that baby to a dark site. Imagine a 10 hour image with that light gathering ability at a dark site? I notice even my TEC180 gets terrific data fast at my dark site compared to my rural skies at Kurrajong with the CDK.

Greg.

Thanks Greg...yep dark sky site (will probably happen..but acquisition of a rural plot is not on the agenda just yet) or simply go Narrow Band.... besides you need FL for galaxies....anything under 2000mm I'm thinking is being delusional.....these guys prove that point well

I think your game bothering with urban LRGB at all, pretty good considering....

NB is the go all the time I wouldve thought urban wise, with the added bonus of being more fun anyway
