well thats something you never want to have happen

was just about to pack it in for the night, enjoying this wonderful cool southerly - now about 90 min ago when i heard sirens - looked out the door and bugger me - the house down the road was on fire!!!!

the fireies had it out in about 20min after getting there, they are now on the roof going through lifting tiles and i think pulling the insulation out and hosing it. at its peak i could see the flames in the house. looking through the now broken binos - I can see that everyone got out safely, their dog is still barking at the firemen though.

what a day - showing 18 girl guides and brownies the sun in stifling 36 degree heat near Dungog to being in a pleasant 18 degrees with someone's house on fire. life is never boring - just a challenge. the old pair of 50mm binos i have are now stuffed. they came out of the bino bag with the eye lenses very wobbly, then the whole lot came off sheared near the focus wheel, hard to hand focus at this point. i dont know what did that just have to get another pair for christmas from santa

Did you, at any time, leave the solar scope unattended yesterday?
