M42 & The Coathanger

Here are a couple from the 28th, my first go at both targets with the 75-300mm lens at 300mm.
The lens has it's limitations but I'm very impressed what I got out of M42 with just a bunch of 30 second exposures, Brocchis cluster is one of my favourite objects too and hopefully I can improve on that in the future.

Both are stacks of 30 seconds, ISO 1600, f/9.0, cheapo 75-300mm lens, Canon 450D and the Polarie.

Nice shots jarrod, I like the neutral background you've got.

Cheers

Well done, it might be a cheap lens but it seems to do the job.

Very nice for a 30sec exposure with a cheap lens
Is the 450D unmodded?

Nice work Jarrod. That M42 is really good for such short subs. I too have used that same lense in the past and the CA is hard to get rid of. There is an action in PS that I found the best for removing it. It's under "Filter/Distort/lense correction. Hope that helps you out.

Thank you all.

Yep, it does alright for what it is and until I can upgrade I'll keep plugging away with it.

Yep it's unmodded. One day if I get a new camera I might mod it.

Excellent, thanks for the tip. I will try that one out as I want to go back and get the colour balance right on the Coathanger.
