Milky Way over Little Lagoon

I hope people aren’t sick of ‘Milky Way Rainbow’ type panoramas, because here’s another one

This was taken near Monkey Mia, just outside the town of Denham at “Little Lagoon”, an almost perfectly circular in shape birrida (gypsum pan) that was inundated by the sea several thousand years ago.

- Large
- Blog

It’s a 25-image panorama captured with a Canon 6D, 14-24 @ 14mm, f/2.8, 30s exposures @ ISO6400. Stitched using Microsoft ICE and processed in Photoshop.

Thanks for looking!

Great image Mike! How do you find Microsoft ICE for stitching panoramas in comparison to other stitching tools you've used?

That's really fantastic, Mike. I like the sinusoidal lines in the foreground contrasting against the curve of the Milky Way. You have a knack for interesting foregrounds in nightscapes, and this is a great example of it.

Thanks houghy. haha yeh I'm sure I created a multiple shadow of myself. The red light was from some wind turbines that were about a kilometre away!

Thanks mate. I really like it. It's my first choice now, only because it's so much faster. I wish it was updated, and I wish it saved metadata/exif info, but it's really quick.
