Just incredible. Its also interesting looking at this zoomed right out - reminiscing how M8/M20 and nearby star look at night under dark skies, not to mention the rest of that central milky way mesmerizing view. Whew!
Yes, indeed this was all done from Coonabarabran. Alas, I have run out of time this season to work on the southern portions. Soooo many more segments to complete, I'll get back at it in the fall.
Glad folks also liked the "eyepiece" view. Sorry to say that Al Nagler has not made an eyepiece to do this yet.
Wow, love how you've presented this John. Its certainly eye catching. I scrolled around your other gigapan image (square version) over the weekend. Really is such an awesome sight. When zoomed in, it easy to lose orientation requiring to zoom back out again. Marvellous work. Looking forward to the southern mission updates next season.
