Once upon a time, I used something similar - a Pentax 100EDUF (wasn't too crash hot really) but this Vixen looks to be in another league

Mm.....A spot size of 20 microns on axis... This is aimed squarely at full-frame bodies - and larger - with sensor pixel spacings 8-10 microns.

The price will be interesting, as I'm sure it will be a fraction of anything similar from canon/Nikon.

Not a great choice for APS-C or m4/3 bodies where the pixel spacing may be down around 4 microns.

Me thinks you'll need to be saving sovereigns rather than pennies, 1930 excluded.

It does look interesting. I guess it all comes to price as the Tak FSQ106ED has cemented itself firmly in astrophotography legend.

Ooh... very interesting. Can any optical engineers here explain why they compare its performance to a theoretical "4 elements in a 4 group lens design" scope? It sounds a bit like razor blade advertising (language warning)

I thought the same thing Dave. A bit of marketing BS. A 4 lens scope is a hidden reference to an FSQ106ED which has 2 ED elements at least and is the most successful scope ever.
