Church of the Good Shepard Vertorama V2

Hi All

I haven't had the chance to get out there shooting recently as I've recently moved house. However in my now extended commute I've managed to do so additional reading on processing. So here is what I think is the new and improved version of my vertorama from the Church of the Good Shepard in Lake Tekapo NZ (old version here). I've removed the lake in the sky after feedback on here and I agree I really like the result.

After rereading through Mikes bungles processing and thanks to my sister managing to pick up a student copy of photoshop I've processed the shot using adjustment layers, I also took some tips from a youtube video by Kenneth Brandon (here) if anyones interested.

Thanks for the feedback Michael, I was initially stuck thinking it needed to be a horizon to horizon pano. But you were right and I like how its now not "restricted" by the land in the sky and kinda allows you to follow the milky way up and beyond. I ordered a print of it (16*48 inches) and it looks great.

Are you using masks yet? It looks like you are, if your not youtube it quick!!! search for 'photoshop masking Astrophotography'

In Photoshop selective colours does wonders to highlight certain areas in and around the Milky Way. I go through all the colours and swing the mouse left to right until I see something I like.

Mild Saturation on the MW before you mask it can bring out some of those reds/oranges and blues. But you can easily go to far. What ever pleases your eye.

Believe me you're doing a great job and you'll probably notice that each time you edit a new photo it gets easier and something about it looks better than the last.

Keep it up! Definately envious of this shot

Thanks for the tips Carlos, yeah started using masks and have a link to a youtube video I found to help in the top post thanks for the advice, I'll keep plugging away and see what looks pleasing to the eye. I agree you can go too far with the saturation etc.
