Old Water Tank and the Milky Way

While driving around Lostock to find suitable foreground scenes for a nightscape, we came across this old water tank, so used it in some photos.

We gave the tank some subtle fill-light using our iPhones

- Large

Usual settings: 6D, Samyang 14mm @ f/2.8, ISO6400, 30s exposure.

Thanks for looking.

I wish I had the time and the locations to attempt these shots. As usual a total inspiration to go out and try it. Thanks Mike!

Very nice Mike. You did a lot of scouting around at Lostock - you got some good locations there.

Nice work Mike.

I always enjoy those images with a touch of Australiana about them.

Was that just a single image at 30 seconds?

Mike have you tried DXO Perspective software? Its a free trial and it can reduce perspective leaning.

Hemi Photoshop plug in may also do it. I got it to handle distortion with my fisheye but it didn't do a very good job. But this is just mild compared to a fisheye.

I played around with it using Hemi Fisheye plug in and no joy. Perhaps the only way to handle that easily is to shoot that sort of shot as a panorama with 2 to 4 images so each one is not pointing up so much with an object close to the camera.

Greg.
