In and around the observatory.

Just a few shots in and around the observatory last night.

1. Milky Way over my house and dome.

2. North east view.

3. Lookin' out.

4. Operations in full swing!

Ta Mike! The temps here in Canberra are dropping and the CCD is LOVING it! I have a heap of data now on M78, M42, M83, the Lagoon, Trifid and Eagle nebulae.

No idea how to use the new, full-version of MaxIMDL5 to process them, but I guess I'll learn fast!

Baz.

I envy your set up. How great does that look. I could live in there. Beautiful.

Lovely shots Baz,

Hope you don't mind, I did an Auto background adjust on 2 of your
nice compositions. seems to bring out the Milky Way a bit better.
If I knew more about PS stuff I could make the dome green less fluorescent though.
Whaddyathink?

Steve

Thanks Steve. Interesting effect. It does lose some detail in the foreground objects, but you're right, the BG is a little more contrasty.

Oversaturation of foreground is difficult to control in long exposures with streetlights around if you want to expose long enough to bring out the MW. An air-rifle at a few streetlights wouldn't go astray, plus the neighbour's two massive spotlights pointing straight at the dome!

Good lighting effect inside Baz. You must be pretty pleased now that you can use it!

One safety suggestion for you: get rid of that extension cord across the floor. Surely you can bring it up via the pier?

Thanks Chris. It was only to power the red light I had at my feet to light the scene for the photo mate.

Bless ya for lookin' out for me though!

Baz.

Nice photos Baz.

I love your setup. The shot of you sitting next to your telescope looks so "comfortable".
Beats sitting outside in the middle of a cold field!

Ross.
