Crows Nest Milky Way

Hi all,

I was camping at Crows Nest National Park (north of Toowoomba) for a couple of nights last weekend. It was cloudy with patchy drizzle much of the time, but when I stuck my head out of the tent just at the beginning of astronomical twilight (4:30am) on Sunday morning I was greeted by the beautiful Milky Way overhead. Just had time to put the camera on the tripod and grab a shot before the dawn light intervened. And then it was drizzling again by 6:30 am!

Single 30 sec exposure with 50D and Tokina 11-16mm at 11mm, f/2.8 and 3200 iso.

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks Mike, JJJ and Laurie! It was a nice sight after all the clouds in Brisbane recently.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shot. Rotated 90 degrees clockwise it makes sense, but then it must have been overhead.

Very cool shot. The trees perspective gives it real depth.

Thanks Marc! It was nice to be able to frame it with the trees.
