Getting Started

Hey guys,
I'm looking at getting into AP as I'm a long time photog and want to continue to branch out and shoot new things.
I've spent the last week or so reading up on what's best/worst etc. etc.
I've had some questions answered but probably raised just as many

I currently have 2 5DMkII's and an EOS-M w/ various lenses.
Will use the 5D for wide field and the scope for deep space & planets/moon/sun etc.

Anyway, so far I have come up with the following kit.
HEQ5 Pro w/ GoTo
Orion ED80T CF 80/480 f/6 (APO Triplet)
Orion Short Tube 80/400 f/5 (w/ Starshoot Autoguider)
Canon T-Ring
2" Adapter (to T-Ring)
Dovetail mount (for piggy backing the 5D)
Solar Filter
Potentially a 2x barlow but want to experiment with my extenders (EF type) first.
Undecided on the finderscope as I've read good things about the red dots but I thought you'd want at least a little bit of range with them..?

What do you think? Good, bad or indifferent.

I'm also wondering how much affect heat has on scopes, as I live in a hot environment...

Thanks in advance guys!

Jason.

Hi Jason

You may find that one of the tube rings for the ED80 has a piggy-back SLR screw fitting for your 5D. Then you won't require an extra dovetail.

Cheers
John
