Which Moon Filter?

Seen many different types and different colours... Which filter should I get?

Are you intending to use it visually or photographically?

Visually, you may benefit from a neutral density filter to reduce the glare. Possibly an adjustable polarizing filter, which allows you to adjust the amount of brightness reduction.

Some recommend a Wratten #80A Blue to enhance detail. I'm not sure.

For imaging with a mono camera, I find a Wratten #25 R reduces the effects of poor seeing, giving reasonable results even when the seeing is quite wobbly. An IR filter is even more effective.

Just for the eyeball, not for AP...

Something to tone down the brightness and up the detail...

Hard to get a filter to up the detail on the lunar surface, usually a neutral density filter will suffice as it cuts down glare thereby improving detail.

Depends what kind of scope you are using. If its a reflector, i find filters dont do much, if its a refractor, a light green can increase detail quite a bit.
