eyepiece brand??

I recently bought a BST 8mm " flat 60 degree" eyepiece which I haven't
had the chance to try out yet. It is painted gloss black all over.
Two questions; the viewing end of the eyepiece screws in and out
through 90 degrees. What is the purpose of this. Maybe it will become obvious when I eventually get to use it.
Secondly, does anyone know if this is a new product, or another brand rebadged, or simply a brand I'm not familiar with?

BST been around for a little while, same as astrotech paradigm
when you say viewing end do you mean the eyecup, it helps with glasses/no glasses -to get your eye in right spot?

Thanks Daniel, the whole eye lens end of the eyepiece turns, so that the
eye lens moves relative to the field lens, so I'm guessing that it is a
dioptre adjustment like you get on the viewfinder of a DSLR.

Whoops, made a mistake; it is just the eyecup that adjusts.
