Hi all, got a few images of the aurora last night. I couldn't see any of it with naked eye, but the sky was dark and thought I would give a time exposure a try on the southern region with 24mm lens on the 5D. It only lasted from 8:30 till 9:00 P.M and then it was gone.
Winters Hill is in the foreground and the lights of Pt. Lincoln to the left.
Thanks Liz and John for your comments. The changing curtain effect was evident when viewing from image to image on the camera. I was very fortunate. All the best.
Thanks Mike for your comments. Don't know if you would have got it Paul, as the aurora was slightly west of south. I should have been shooting the area by 8 P.M.; but had the thought that aurora only came later in the evening. How wrong was I. All the best.
I reckon we probably would have seen it had we been outside. I have a clear view up and down the drive in that direction and there is no light pollution there at all.
Am I correct in thinking you did this on Monday night? If so we missed it by not being outside. If it was Sunday night it was clouded out across lower SA.
