Venus transit from the sunny centre of NSW

To avoid the clouds and rain, Dave Hough and I ventured to Nyngan which is about 600km inland from Newcastle and at the very dead centre of NSW

Under pristine blue skies we enjoyed the transit from start to finish and from an unusual location as you can see from the photos..even did a live radio phone interview with BBC breakfast radio in England

Thanks so much for the experience Dave, we had a ball huh? (Dave did most of the work I was essentially his Caroline Herschel)

See a larger size quick and dirty Ha montage showing very first contact to third contact HERE

and some photos of the setup and location HERE

What a fabulous whirlwind tour

Mike

So glad that you guys managed to see and image the event. Great set of pics and location shots. Look at those mounts, driven hard past their meridian flip point!

Cheers

Well done Mike, nice third contact image too. BTW I think Caroline was pretty active. Five comet discoveries and kept going after Will snuffed it. So does that mean you were active????
