ETA Carina season over?

Well, there hasn't been an ETA Carina image posted up for a few days, so perhaps I can tweak interest in a narrowband image of this nebula.

http://www.martinpughastrophotograph...aCarina_NB.jpg

nice and bright, so only 9 hours this time round. SHO palette was used.

Tak FSQ106N, SBIG STL11K, Astrodon 5nm Ha/SII and 3nm OIII.

Cheers
Martin

The plethora of SII data has me stumpted...and somewhat green (or is that yellow? ) with envy...

But nice to see you sticking with the program so brilliantly Martin!

That is so utterly, ethereally beautiful, it's ridiculous.

You have the skills to pay the bills.

Superb vista Martin. As Peter said the Sii came through real strong. Well done. Just one thing I noticed is the Oiii channel in places has a very abrupt layering noticeable in the gabriella mistral bit and a few other places. Did you use a masking technique for the blue bits?

Rather interesting view and colour palette Martin, looks quite good. There have been a few good renditions of this area this year and it's amazing how many different ways this iconic nebula can be presented. Yours reminds me of a strange alien creature rearing up ...is this part of a mozaic by chance?

I like the scheme Martin, although I would really like to see a tiny touch of mottled greens. Other than that I think the image is very nice.

A fabulous image Martin. It would be even better with some rgb stars.

Hello folks and thanks for the comments.

Mike - no, not part of a mosaic.

Marc - thanks for pointing this out. This area of the image did not actually get any special treatment, but that OIII is sharply cut off, so I will need to address that.

So, I need to:
Fix up the Gabriela Mistral nebula
add RGB stars
fix another star someone has emailed me about
and add back in the mottled green, I actually took out!

No problem! Always value the feedback

cheers
Martin

How do you layer the Oiii and did you use a ratio of Ha into your Sii channel?

Incredible detail Martin. Some good feedback has been given, but only for you to reach absolute perfection in this capture.

I will be saving this image to help hunt down new narrow FOV's to shoot one day.

Cheers Martin,

Steve
