Orion - My Very First Attempt At DSO CCD Imaging

I've had my 'scope for about 6 weeks now (been cloudy for about 4 weeks!) and received my GSTAR-EX mono CCD camera last week. Spent a couple of days scratching my head getting the various bits of hardware and software working - mainly due to my lack of expertise! This really IS rocket science

Managed to find a short window of time between clouds and vomiting children to grab some frames and smash some images together. Pretty happy with my first attempt (although I have a long way to go!!!)

Celestron CPC 8"
GSTAR-EX CCD integration rate: 128x
ProStar 0.5x reducer
20 frames each of L, R, G and B
Sets aligned and stacked in Registax
Final image processed in GIMP.

I'll be more methodical next time, but I wanted a quickie!

Cheers,

Dan.

And a fine start it is Dan. Practice and more practice and you'll amaze yourself!

Had another crack at reprocessing the files. I think it's a little better, but I need more data!!! (and more practice)

Cheers,

Dan.
